Altamont

Altamont is a skateboard apparel company based in Lake Forest, California, United States. Altamont was founded and is owned by professional skateboarder Andrew Reynolds. There have been many contributors creatively to the company.

Two key components of the brand are pro skateboarder Bryan Herman and Heroin Skateboards owner Mark Foster who designed the Altamont logo and is responsible for the general art direction of the brand. They are known to bring in artists to do special pieces for their lines of clothing.

For fall 2007, Altamont brought in photographer Patrick O'Dell and secured artwork from musician Jimi Hendrix supplied by his family. In spring 2008, Altamont commissioned artwork by New York graffiti artist and skateboarder Neckface, Californian illustrator and music album artist John Lorenzi, and the illustrator known as "French." Who is not French but British.

The name is derived from the infamous 1969 Altamont Free Concert that turned an idealistic decade's dreams into disillusionment, the Altamont name stands as a symbol for a turning point in youth culture and a persuasive reminder of the eternal struggle between man's highest ambitions and lowest tendencies.

"In an era of turbulence and uncertainty, Altamont emerged as a pivotal moment in youth culture, when idealism and anarchy rode together on the same horse and no one knew for certain who was holding the reins."   Nick Aretakis, PopPolitics.com
The skate team consists of Andrew Reynolds, Bryan Herman, Theotis Beasley, Kenny Hoyle, Sammy Baca, Garret Hill, Justin Figueroa, Brian "Slash" Hansen, Rafael Cordova, and Saul Ramirez.
