Alien Workshop

Alien Workshop which is sometimes known as AWS is a skateboard company based in Dayton, Ohio and was founded in 1990 by Mike Hill and Chris Carter. With most skateboard companies based around the California area it is a real departure for a company to be centred outside of this industry related location.

Aside from producing 100% Canadian maple skateboard decks (manufactured in the US and Canada, contrary to many skate companies who have since moved their operations to the far east) it also boasts a vast array of hardware and soft goods including wheels, Reflex bearings, tee-shirts, hoods, shirts, pants, denim, jackets and hats ontop of releasing a number of influencial skateboard films such as Memory Screen (1991), Time Code (1997), Photosynthesis (2000) and more recently Mosaic (2003).

Alien Workshop is recoginised  for its distinct graphic artwork with themes of paranoia and futurism bringing an often political and social angle to its visual identity. Its skate team includes Anthony Van Engelen (AVE), Heath Kirchart, Steve Berra, Jason Dill, Josh Kalis, Rob Dyrdek, Mike Taylor, Omar Salazar, Grant Taylor and Dylan Rieder. Its sister company, Habitat skateboards, follows the same high standard in thoughtful graphic symbolism and iconography. Many of Alien Workshops original board graphics enjoy countless represses due to their popularity and timeless originality. Recently Alien Workshop has collaborated with a number of footwear brands to release limited edition graphics and colourways for their professional riders signature skate shoes.
